Background :

The Chittaranjan National Cancer Institute (CNCI) conducted a rural demonstration project between 2014
and 2016 to evaluate the diagnostic accuracy of Gynocular in cervical precancer detection.

Methodology :

  • Women aged 30–60 were screened via VIA and HC2 HPV testing
  • VIA-positive women were immediately examined using Gynocular followed by biopsy
  • HPV-positive but VIA-negative women were recalled for Gynocular and biopsy

Results :

  • High specificity of Gynocular in detecting lesions
  • Enabled immediate triage of VIA-positive women
  • Ensured follow-up of HPV-positive women who might have otherwise been missed

Conclusion :

Gynocular complemented existing screening methods by filling diagnostic gaps and ensuring no high-risk case was missed. It became a valuable asset in remote gynecological oncology workflows.
